Iglu Cruise’s predictions for cruising in 2025

In a fast-moving marketplace, Europe’s largest online cruise agency, Iglu Cruise shares what they see as the 6 key trends for the coming year in cruise.

  1. A late Easter in the Mediterranean drives Spring bookings

  2. Small Ship Luxury expansion due to increased demand

  3. UK departures even more important

  4. Increased number of themed cruises with speakers

  5. Even more ‘coolcations’ i.e. Polar/Baltic/Fjord cruises

  6. More travel to remote locations

Easter in the Mediterranean

With Easter falling late in 2025, Iglu Cruise is seeing rising demand for late April sales, especially for those seeking out Mediterranean sunshine.  A top seller is a 14-nightMediterranean Adventure cruise from Southampton on board Sky Princess, from £1,120 per person full board, departing on April 12th, 2025.

Small Ship Luxury expansion and demand

In response to customer requests, Iglu Cruise has launched a new range of luxury small ships for cruises on six cruise lines. The range includes new options from SeaDream Yacht Club, Emerald Yacht Cruises and Scenic Discovery Yachts. Book ahead to grab available staterooms and suites, as the small number available sell out fast.

Noting the fresh interest in small ship luxury, Iglu Cruise’s Chief Commercial Officer, Dave Mills said, ‘It’s heartening to see growth in demand in all areas of cruising. We are seeing more and more of our customers asking for a more intimate, luxury yacht experience, with a very high ratio of staff to guests, smaller scale dining and with the opportunity of accessing ports of call and destination experiences not possible to reach via a bigger ship.’

UK departures even more important

47% of cruisers recently surveyed said they preferred to depart from a UK port. The rise of options from the UK—not only Southampton—means cruisers can jump on board at 14 different UK ports.

Increased number of themed cruises with talks or Q&As

Cruise lines are becoming more creative with speakers on board.  Here are the best on offer through Iglu Cruise.

Even more people taking ‘coolcations’ i.e. Polar/Baltic/Fjord cruises

Dave Mills, Chief Commercial Director at Iglu Cruise has revealed why the so called ‘coolcation’ destinations are increasing in popularity. He said:

People are looking for cooler travel destinations for several reasons. Firstly, higher temperatures we have seen across the globe in recent years mean that many people are seeking cooler climes.’

Also, a coolcation often provides travellers with the opportunity to see a different part of the world. People often search for new travel destinations to tick off their bucket lists, and visiting the likes of Iceland, Norway or Alaska provides just that. These destinations can be visited all year round, not just in the winter months. Visiting a cooler destination in the summer can be advantageous as travellers may enjoy longer hours of daylight, and the heat can be much more comfortable for young families.’

More travel to remote locations

Dave Mills, Chief Commercial Officer, Iglu Cruise says,

South American cruises are growing in popularity after a slow restart after Covid-19, but healthy price reductions are enticing newcomers to book. It’s particularly encouraging to see more complicated cruise and land-based stays being researched on our site.’

Iglu Cruise offers this bespoke package from only £5,599 per person. Choose ‘Amazon to Caribbean Gems from Barbados with Stay’ from £5,599 per person for 23 nights, based on two sharing an inside cabin, full board, on board Oceania Insignia, departing from UK airports on January 24th, 2026 with overseas transfers.
